Degrees of Freedom

A radically simplified anti-kick-back system

Easy to adjust, low-maintenance, and adding virtually no extra weight, the new DF technology gives you extra degrees of freedom to tune your bike’s behavior. Allowing the freehub a certain amount of movement before engagement reduces the chain’s influence on the rear suspension, so the suspension can work freely. The system lets you find the right setting for different terrain types or bikes without using any tools. And if your goal is to optimize your bike’s kinematics, you gain an extra degree of freedom.

*Degrees of freedom = the number of values that can vary freely in the final result of a statistical calculation.

Compatible with all DT SWISS Ratchet DEG hubs.

The new DF technology is a radically simplified anti-kick-back device. Compatible with all Ratchet DEG freehub systems, it is lighter than other solutions and only requires replacing the hub’s threaded ring and the two ratchet rings to benefit from three different freehub movement settings: 0°, 10°, and 20°.

E-MTB version

The new DF technology will soon be available for eMTBs. Due to the higher torques in this specific field of use, the freehub movement settings are 0° or 10°. The technology will be available in Ratchet DEG Hybrid hubs equipped with 60-tooth ratchet rings.
